Welcome to the Last Cowboy's Court. Each of our one-of-a-kind rooms tells the story of a local pioneering family whose ranches still operate in Hemphill County.
Rooms
Room 8 - King Bed, The Washita Room
Hemphill County's other river, the Washita, is the nexus of our cowboy and Indian heritage, home first to the Kiowa and Comanche, then the Calvary on the old Military trail, followed by the earliest ranchers. the room's art reflects the peaceof the meandering river, the wild country surrounding it and the inevitable clash of cultures, while providing all the comforts of and old-time ranch house. The authenic ranch oad king bed is made up with luxury linens, while locally crafted Soak Yer Bones bath salts and the old fashioned cast iron soaking tub, invite you to get out of the saddle and relax a while.
Room 12 - Queen Bed, The Rodeo Room
Room 12 with its rustic iron headboard on the Queen Bed, Texas Flag and bucking chute barn door to the bath honors Canadian't rodeo heritage as home of the World's First Public Rodeo. With cowhides on the floor and rodeo pictures on the wall the decor is fun for everyone and a must for fans of our first and always popular, 132 year old 3 day 4th of July Celebration and Rodeo. Luxury linens and a tin shower with rock floor complete this room with adjoins room 12 1/2 and may be used together or completely closed off for privacy.
Room 12.5 - King Room; Top Hand Room
Room 12.5, the "Top Hand Room", honors the heroes of Canadian's heritage; King Room, orginal 1940s Ranch Oak table and chairs, barn slider door, two bath with tin Shower and rock floor.
Room 7 - Queen Bed, The Shaller Room
C.W. Shaller brought his family and retail business to the ranch land he had purchased here as soon as the Railroad completed a safe crossing of the Canadian River. Room 7 pays homage to the river, the railroad and the ranch featuring the original a barn wood dividing wall, historic Railroad photos and art with beautiful River views. Luxurious bed linens play off the tin shower with rock floor and rustic bucket sink.
Room 9 - Two Double Beds, The Brainard Room
The history of the Brainard fmaily and ranch, in Hemphill County since 1886, parallels, intersects, winds around and tell the story of the Canadian, its heritage of family ranches, working cowboys, rancher turned business entrepreneur and 140 yrear of holding on, developing new and building better. Decor in this room with two double beds, our signature luxury linens, and six foot cast iron soaker tub features art reflecting the many firsts the 5 generation family brought to Canadian, development of the Hereford cattle breed, the orgination of the Southwestern Stockmen's Association, the first and only building owned and maintained by a local Women's Christian Temperance Union, now Canadian's library, ther rist of the ranch town home's that today are still teh highight of Canadian's historic tours.
Room 6 - King Bed, Arrington Room, ADA Compliant
Captain Arrington was the first Ranger in the Texas Panhandle, providing law enforcement from the ranch he established near Canadian. His colorful story and the family ranch heritage are reflected in Room 6, where an old fashioned brass bed, luxury linens and walk or roll-in shower guarantee a peaceful night in this spacious handicap-accessible room.
Room 10 - Queen Bed, The Alexander Room
Also referred to as the Church Room, Room 10, features the gothic window shaped swinging doors common to both our first churches, and the popular saloons fo the time, while telling the story of Mrs. Mary Jane Alexander, who as a young widow with 5 children defied the traditions of the time and carried out her husband's mission to establish the 1st Presbyterian Church in the region, after shocking everyone by continuing on to Hemphill County, filing on land on the Washita River and becoming the 1st female landwoner, and rancher, in the Panhandle. In addition to its architectural nod to our churches, the room offers a Queen bed, with luxury bedding, rustic tin wainscoting and a small desk area. The bath features a bucket sink and tin shower with rock floor.
